Story

ARCHIE SHRYANE - Archie Shryane was born 12th January 2021, but due to an extremely rare lung condition he required the help of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester. Tragically Archie passed away just 5 days later on the 16th January 2021. It was thanks to the hard work, dedication and overall care from the NICU at St Marys Hospital, as well as young Archies strength of character that allowed his family, father Brendan, mother Melanie and sister Mila an all to brief but extremely meaningful 5 days together. Our Aim is simple, to keep Archies legacy alive and to help the very people who helped him. We want to show our support and gratitude to the tremendous team at the NICU at St Marys who care for new-borns and family members in their time of need daily. Andy and I have known Bren and Mel for years. I’m lucky enough to have been given the honour of being Mila’s godfather and consider both Bren and Mel family and Andy has been close friends with Bren and Mel even before they were a couple, which if you know was a very long time ago. The Challenge Andy and I wanted to set ourselves a challenge where we could be pushed to our limits both mentally and physically. We are both former Royal Marine Commandos and pride ourselves on being able to carry heavy loads of kit over very long distances. Therefore, we have decided we are going to challenge ourselves and crack the Yorkshire 3 Peaks not once, but twice in one day in order to raise as much money as possible in Archie Shryanes name Anyone who has done the Yorkshire three peaks knows it is a very difficult hike and requires a very good level of fitness. But to do it twice in the same day is going to be a mammoth challenge and will require a lot of mental strength and resilience. Yorkshires 3 highest peaks consist of Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), Ingleborough (723m). Twice in a row the accumulated height will be 4,306m (14128.3ft) and the overall distance travelled will be roughly 50 miles (77km) all in a single day. We would massively appreciate your support for this great cause, all money raised will be going to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester.
